    Here are the 15 documentaries that are eligible for Oscar voting for the 90th Academy Awards
    Today, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the 15 films that are eligible for voting in the Documentary Feature category for the 90th Academy Awards. There were 170 documentaries that were originally submitted in this category. A number of them, including Chasing Coral , Faces Places and City of Ghosts , have been getting Oscar buzz for some time now.

    “Faces Places,” “Jane,” “City of Ghosts” and “Chasing Coral” have made the cut as the Academy Awards race for Best Documentary Feature has been narrowed down from a record-breaking 170 eligible films to a shortlist of 15.
    Competing directors include two who have won Honorary Oscars in recent years: “Faces Places” co-director Agnes Varda, who received the award in November, and “Ex Libris - The New York Public Library” director Frederick Wiseman, a legendary nonfiction filmmaker who won an Honorary Oscar in 2016 but has never been nominated for a competitive one.

  • Oscars: Documentary Feature Shortlist Cuts Field To 15

    The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has narrowed the field for the Documentary Feature Oscar to 15 vying for five nomination slots. Among them are a sequel to a previous Oscar winner, a bracing look back at the 1992 Los Angeles riots and a topical look at Russia's Olympic doping scandal.
